The building of the Hungarian Museum of
Architecture was designed based on a design brief of the Liget
Budapest Competition which was held in Hungary in 2014. The goal was
to build five new museums in City Park Városliget located in the
center of the capital.
It is located on the parks border so between two areas with different functions – on the east side is a garden full of green and on the north there's a dense developement.
The building is mostly underground and
it's covered by irregular-shaped green roof with triangular openings.
On the overground floor there is an entrance foyer, museum shop,
administration offices and restaurant.
Inside there are geometric blocks
covered with wood with exhibition halls connected with bridges.
Eighteen meters under the ground there is an educational zone with
library, auditorium, event hall and workshops. The open space between
the rooms is arranged with banks and couches where guest can relax.
Along longer edges are escape routs with closed staircases. In this
parts on each level are also toilets for guest and small storages
with exhibition equipement.
The permanet exhibition is devided to
two paths connected with each other. There is also place for
temporary exhibitions.
